Sandboxed on Mac: the programs that do Feya’s work run in a file sandbox. The Feya app itself has your normal permissions.
01
Her own folders, sandboxed on Mac
Feya keeps models, settings and logs in her own folders, and her software doesn’t open, read or upload your files. On a Mac, the worker that does Feya’s jobs and the programs it runs AI models with start inside a macOS file sandbox that stops them reading or changing your files outside her folders, and the app won’t start them without it. What it doesn’t cover: the Feya app itself (menu bar, updates, downloads) has your normal permissions; the sandboxed programs can still see file names, sizes and dates, and the command line and environment your other programs started with, where keys and tokens sometimes sit; the full checks ran only on Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 26.6.2 and 27.0. Windows has no such sandbox yet. So we still don’t recommend contributing from a Mac that holds files you can’t risk.
02
Your Mac stays usable
Feya uses about two thirds of the memory, so you can keep using your Mac. She keeps it awake for work only when it’s plugged in and the screen is off or locked, and not while it’s hot. Before downloading a model she checks there’s room on disk.
03
Signed and checked
The Mac app is notarized by Apple. Its updates are signed by Feya and checked before they install. Models download only from links in Feya’s catalog.
04
Encrypted in transit, no open ports
Your Mac connects out to Feya over a connection that is encrypted in transit. Nothing connects in, so there’s nothing to change on your router or firewall.
05
You’re in control
One switch pauses Feya. On battery she doesn’t keep the Mac awake; untick Use battery and she waits for the charger.
06
No chat history kept
Requests your Mac answers aren’t kept on it, and Feya doesn’t store chat history on its servers, except that, rarely, part of a conversation can end up in an error log, as the privacy notice explains. What is kept is a record of the work (the model, the token count, which computer answered) and a fingerprint of the conversation, as the privacy notice explains.
